I imagine this is how Lotus feels. I have an all day meeting tomorrow (set up by me but prompted by our CEO) where I basically spend the entire day justifying my own existence to two people that I don’t report to but for some reason have to answer to. I’m fast, efficient, and by all measures a sports car of a marketing and branding professional but will still get confused looks.
On the bright side (this is sarcasm), the CEO will be present to quote “keep the blood from running too quickly ”. Thanks the vote of confidence, bu d.
Also, the Evora looks way better in bright colors.

If you have to justify your position at work, it’s time to find a new job because yours isn’t long for this world.

Exactly what popped into my head. I’ve found there are three reactions to office space:
1) “I don’t get it”
2) “I love it because it reminds me of work”
3) “I hate it because it reminds me of work”

I love it because it reminds me of how back my job situation was in the past.

50% of all of my job security in every job has been my opaque filing system.
“Do you have a letter of agreement from X?”
“Yes, it’s filed alphabetically under country and then institution, but they sent a new version, and that’s in my inbox, but they had some additional requests that they made over the phone.”
“Where are those?”
“In my head.”
Come at me, bitches.

The “ in your head” filing system is a wonderful thing. My job security basically comes from having been with my employer long enough to have seen all the dumb ideas tried already.
“Nah, that ain’t go nna work, because it’ll lead to ABC: it’s always the second order effects that kill you ”. Makes me look like a genius, if I don’t explain that it took a dozen of us 6 months work to find out about ABC the hard way, way back in 2003.

I’m firmly with the second one. Also, I’m a career consultant. Guess which Bob I am....

It’s not exactly justification. Both these GMs are somewhat new and had been duplicating functionality in our company because they weren’t communicating. I think we got a start at fixing things.
